Crocodile Dundee (1986)

Crocodile Dundee was a critical and economic success upon its initial release, garnering writer/star Paul Hogan an Academy Award nomination. However, in retrospect, the picture contains a slew of flaws that make it troublesome now. To begin with, the notion of Hogan’s persona is insulting to Australians. Aside from that, the film contains numerous jokes about transgender people that are pretty offensive by today’s standards.

Die Hard (1988)

Die Hard has never been more culturally relevant than it is now, with everything from toys and memes to a seemingly never-ending yearly argument over whether or not it is a Christmas movie keeping the film in the zeitgeist. This is rather amusing given that the picture would almost certainly never be created today, at least not in its current form. The film is not only very violent, but it also makes light of the notion of a terrorist strike, which would most certainly be far more challenging to carry out in today’s society.
