So much over-tourism is happening in this country partly due to the attention it got from Game Of Thrones. Locals are not really happy about this because too many visitors can mean a threat to the environment and places of attraction.

Uruguay is located between popular destinations like Argentina and Brazil, making it very attractive to visitors. Cannabis has been legalized in Uruguay, so it is not a surprise that more are visiting the country recently. Aside from that, the famous weird meatpacking facility of Fray Bentos is one of the biggest reasons contributing to the large increase in the number of visitors.
