On The Bright Side

The conditions that the tortoises had been in were appalling, and they had been mistreated as well, but the team was happy that they recovered so many of the animals. Because many of the tortoises were sickly, there was a lot of care to transport the animals to a safe place. Having found so many, the team hoped that they could help bring up the population numbers of the tortoises. But, unfortunately, not everything was working out for the animals.

The Hard Truth

The people helping the tortoises were glad to have found them, but they soon learned the hard truth. Sadly, the team found out that many of the tortoises they rescued would only survive until the following week because the poor creatures were severely ill. These tortoises were dehydrated, and though the vets did everything they could, they still couldn’t save all of the animals. Even if every team member worked around the clock, they couldn’t care for more than 9,000 tortoises.
