The Jerk – 1979
“I was born a poor black child,” says the caucasian Steve Martin in the first line of The Jerk. Martin’s Navin R. John was adopted by an African American family, according to the explanation. While the film tries to find subversive humor in the situation, it’s probably better that it never gets created again.

48 Hrs. (1982)
While 48 Hrs. may work as a buddy-cop picture, the film’s frequent use of sexually vulgar and racist language, including regular use of the “n-word,” would make it a no-go in today’s atmosphere.
