Gerber is one of the major players in the baby food brand market in the United States. Now owned by Nestle, the company has headquarters in both America and Luxembourg. Even though there are local factories, it only makes baby formulas over there. The factories in China make the solid food. All eight flavors of Nutripuff products are made overseas! In 2019, Nestle actually spent 100 million Chinese yuan or $14,055,010 to open a new Nutriff plant. The company called this an “important milestone” for the “localization” of the brand.

Fun fact: the invention of the Post-it happened by accident. Dr. Spencer Silver made a low-tack and reusable adhesive, but nobody wanted to use a solution. He tried to look for another way to use it by anchoring a bookmark on a hymn book! It worked to stick the two items together, so he combined the adhesive and paper to create the Post-it as we now know it. He first issued free samples until the demand grew so strong that the company turned a huge profit. With headquarters in Cynthiana, Kentucky, the company has 27 official Post-it colors at the moment.

A different tool company called Western Forge has a deal with Craftsman too. This company makes its products in the United States. This means that the production of Craftsman items is divided between Asia and America.
The Weber-Stephen Products is behind the famous Weber grills! This iconic kitchen product was introduced in 1893 back when Weber used to go by Weber Bros. Metal Works. In those days, it was a round kettle grill that needed charcoal to work. George Stephen, the owner of a sheet metal factory in Chicago, came up with this while improvising the grill at his house. The metal sheets were used as buoys until they were repurposed and sold as a half-sphere grill! His neighbors called the product “Sputnik.” It got so big that he decided to start a company for it. The company is based in Palatine, Illinois.
Even though Ford was founded in America, it feels more accurate to call it a multinational company. Like Chevy, it brags about being American-made. The Detroit plants operate the entire year, but the parts are also made in China. There are also factories in pretty much every single country out there. Back then, it only made Moore’s Prepared Calsom Finish and sold it via independent retailers. This all changed when the paint supplier started doing the production in-house. However, the company was making more hats in the 1900s more than any other period in time! We are not surprised to hear that the hats are made in Texas through a contract with Hatco, which also makes Resistol and Charlie 1 Horse hats. Fashion retailer American Eagle Outfitters targets teens and young adults. While the country is in its name, the clothes are mostly made abroad. It has many plants in India, China, and Vietnam. The Asian countries have been major hubs for cotton manufacturing ever since the Industrial Revolution. On the other hand, the company has stores in the United States, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. In 2017, it has over a thousand stores, which includes a spinoff called Aerie.
L.L. Bean Boots
In 1921, Leon Leonwood Bean founded L.L. Bean in Maine. The company specializes in recreation equipment and outdoor clothing. The main plant is located in Freeport until now! With its 55 American stores and e-commerce site, the company brings home $1.6 billion in revenues per year. The first product of the company would be the Maine Hunting Shoes, which were made in the basement of the founder’s brother until they could finally afford a factory. The company now employs 5,100 people.
Samsonite owns the luggage brand American Tourister, which has been around for nearly a century now. The manufacturing process changed when it was bought out by the bigger company. We already know that Samsonite makes its products in China, so it makes sense that this is also true for American Tourister products.
